gratitutes list
1. whenever Boy is here in the morning, he makes me coffee.
the gravity of this is likely lost on those who use pre-packaged grounds and coffeemakers and such. at my house, daily coffee production is akin to a spaceshuttle launch in terms of preparation and effort - beans must be ground, water must be boiled, filter apparati must be prepared, an appropriate ratio of water to coffee to cinnamon must be brought together at precisely the right time and temperature by trained personnel (read: Boy, dashing about starkers in my kitchen). for heaven's sake, how have i not yet managed to rig together a ringstand/flask setup for this very purpose?
it is worthwhile to note that he himself almost never has coffee when he is here. he's just running about making it for me.
2 a.heirloom tomatoes are coming in season.
and it is requiring every ounce of my considerable willpower to prevent me from EATING. ALL OF THEM.
2 b. ditto on blueberries.
3. re-re-re-discovering Guster's back-catalogue on my iPod.
if you've never heard of them, that likely points to the years of your life that you did not spend living in New England obsessing over a local 3-piece ensemble from Somerville. Parachute, Goldfly and Lost and Gone Forever were the soundtracks to my Sophomore through Senior years of college - what good parts there were in there, anyway - and it's refreshing to be reminded of some happy spots from that point in my life.
